Dress Code: Dress up Fuckers!"

the comas are coming.

apparently, the comas (who i've never heard but whose album, conductor, received an impressive 8.0 from pitchfork) are playing a little under-the-radar show tonight at otto's shrunken head (538 E 14th St @ ave b). i figured that that might be news to someone.

and...i'm out! happy weekend.

rock and roll frankenstein.

sometimes spin magazine is totally retarded.

scary police on tape.

yes, people are apparently still having raves. and yes, apparently this still scares the bejesus out of straight society, enough so that law enforcement officials find it necessary to arrive on the scene with tear gas, helicopters, guns, and drug dogs. video this way.

thanks to drunk john for the heads-up.

what a waste of a week.

my body has officially declared war on my social life. i have had the worst flu ever for the past week and it's showing no signs of vacating the premises. mon dieu. i realize though that not everyone needs to stay home just because i am, so here's some flyers i've gotten for the coming days... have fun! and try not to think about how sad your are for me as i sit at home watching my 397th law and order rerun. sigh.

Gettingup

the oddly secretive "fusion flash" shows.

i hadn't heard anything about this til now, but maybe i'm out of touch.

the fushion flash concert series is apparently a bunch of random, unannounced free concerts happening throughout the u.s. with headliners including everyone from fat joe to louis xiv.

i guess the roots already played in july, but no word yet on any other new york shows, so check the website for more details.

in other news, i'm fairly certain that i'm coming down with the flu, just in time for what was supposed to be a jam-packed weekend. sigh.

lazy, in addition to manic.

i *finally* updated the shows list at right. there is an absolutely unholy amount of good music happening in the next few months! hooray.

oh dear god it's almost september already?

the full cmj lineup for 2005 has just been announced. i'd better get to work on that badge!
