according to defamer, this ace chop job on the original trailer for the Shining (in which it is reimagined as a heartwarming, feel-good movie) is being circulated all over the place, but i hadn't seen it until they put it up. i almost spat out my diet dr. pepper when 'salsbury hill' kicked in.

i'll be there, so everyone should come out and say hello. if you're wondering why you couldn't get into those cake shop parties during cmj, maybe it's because you don't hang with the aforementioned DJs. i'm just saying.
but i'm sure aziz ansari is. the blogosphere's favorite comedian (whom i ungraciously referred to as not really a celebrity in an old m.i.a. post) is one of the ten funniest new yorkers you've never heard of, according to this week's new york magazine.
i'm sure that the only reason i didn't get such an award is that i'm technically an employee and thus out of the running. kidding.
there's an absolutely ridiculous literary event happening up at barnard college in november, and tickets aren't sold out yet (although they probably will be soon). the event is called 'great writers at barnard' and they're hosting an incredible lineup of a-list authors and writers, such as jhumpa lahiri, anna quindlen, edwidge danticat, erica jong, alex kuczynski, and a bunch more.

my astute co-worker jada was at a screening the other night and had a logan marshall-green (that's ryan atwood's crazy older brother from the oc.) sighting! or so she thought. it turns out that trey has an identical twin brother (apparently named taylor), who lives in nyc!
good to know. now i'll know to check myself if i see him on the street instead of screaming like a crazed fan while running up to him shooting imaginary guns and gushing about how much cuter than he is than his "brother" ryan. phew!
everyone and their mother had a sick time at the white stripes show at keypan park. i guess i'm not surprised, but it's funny: a co-worker asked me if i was going to the show and i said no. too expensive. she responded by reminding me that i probably could have gone for free, to which i was at a loss for words.
truth is, i never even considered going. i've realized recently that i can't bear the thought of going to one more huge show featuring a handful of blockbuster indie bands (ie. siren fest- shoot me). the whole thing is just so overpriced, impersonal, and tiresome that i find i'd generally just rather stay home.
is this the beginning of the end?
