oh friday, well you came and you stopped me from shaking.

oh what a fun weekend this will be. tonight i'm hitting up black and white for a little reunion party of sorts. come by if you're in the neighborhood. it's gonna be packed. then tomorrow i'm going to a video shoot for a certain wonderful local band, and then tomorrow night it's birthday central. sunday i'm contractually obligated to go to the smiths party at sway, which is understand is something of a madhouse. speaking of which, has anyone been to death disco at the delancey? i got a question for you if so.

and so on and so forth...happy weekend!

settle down, children!

wristbands for this year's sxsw fest are going for about 250 bones on ebay. they sold out in hours after hordes of people descended on austin's waterloo records before the store opened yesterday morning.

i mean, is it really worth all that!? what am i talking about- of COURSE it is!!! and a big hug and shout-out to kind soul stephen, who braved the long line and got bands for john and i despite barely knowing who we are.

wankers, them.

best buy slashes prices on a-list indie rock CDs, and fails to tell record labels a thing about it.

for those who simply can't bring themselves to stay home for a night...

me and jay, happy together.

last night there was a big premiere party for project jay. i rsvp'ed like a good girl and was totally excited to go. . .and then i got stuck at work. again. pout. no fun for mm! thanks to the wonders of dvr though, i was able to watch it from home. i thought it was great. some critics don't agree, but they're crazy.

thankfully the massive project i've been working on is finally finished (you'll be able to check it out here soon, although i doubt all the talk of ring settings and dress fittings and such will be of any interest to the people who read this blog) and my life is back to normal at long last.

i have a lot of social catching up to do. i hardly know where to begin!

am i the only one who hadn't heard about this? the concert, i mean. not the war.

no test icicles for you!

i don't listen to them and this news affects me very little, but as they are blogger darlings, i thought i'd let everyone know...

british band test icicles have canceled their new york shows. no news on why exactly, but their merc lounge and northsix shows are no longer happening.

don't shoot the messenger.

i guess this is what everyone meant all those years by "working hard".

i'm so busy at work that today i ate vending-machine cheese and crackers for lunch. boohoo. perhaps—perhaps!—i will make it out to something this week.

in the papers.

in this week's new york magazine, regular folks play rock critics and discuss the latest from cat power, belle and sebastian, ray davies, and others.

and the times has a night out with swedish band the concretes.

am i the only one in america who has to work today?

so what's everyone doing this weekend?

what i'd LIKE to be doing is going to north six to see dirty on purpose play, and then heading over to fontana's for the love parade party (cat, apparently, is back), but instead i'm going to work my little fingers to the bone and then go to sleep. lately it seems i've morphed into an 80-hour-a-week workaholic, minus the investment-banker salary. sigh.

if you read jin's blog (or any number of magazines like spin, timeout new york, etc.) than you already know all about dirty on purpose. so i'll just give them a little plug by saying that they're good people, they put on a good show, and the house is always packed when they play. so go and have a good time in my stead.

happy presidents day everyone!
