things i did last week.

-wrote a little story about sondre lerche for this week's new york magazine.

-broke my winnie's cherry.

-went to the launch party for the gen/art film festival, where we ate tons of awesome hors d'ouevres and gawked at this girl thinking that she was so trashy she must be someone famous.

Pwq_032906_1

turns out she's just trashy for no good reason, since even the patrick mcmullan people don't know who she is, and they know everything. by the way, she may not look that trashy in the picture, but trust me it was extreme. for real.

-submitted my very first gawker stalker sighting only to have it rejected because it was a sighting of. . .gawker editor jesse oxfeld, who was singing "fame" at winnie's with a bevy of young girls on his arm at 4 in the morning on saturday. juicy!

-walked across the williamsburg bridge.

-listened to the new built to spill album (like it) as well as the new ll cool j (pretty much blows, aside from a hot song with juelz santana), so that i could write my very first paid album reviews for a publication i'd actually read!

-attended many birthday festivities for this little guy.

Matthewbday

-walked to and sampled the goods at il laboratorio del gelato.

. . .and subsquently failed at this week's round of the weight loss competition i'm engaged in with my family. not good.

all pending obesity aside though, not too shabby! i heart spring.

who are you? who who, who who?

last night a friend told me an hysterical story about something that happened while he was at the gorillaz show at the apollo. or i think it's hysterical, anyway. here's the 'blind item' style post i wrote about it...

"My friend sits down in the press section at the Gorillaz show, and tries to make nice with the couple sitting next to him. "Hi, I'm so-and-so," he says. "Are you guys press too?" The girl sort of looks at the guy (who's on the phone) and says "I'm not, but he is." My friend: "Oh, who is he?" Girl: "I can't say." My friend: "Uh, what?" Girl: "He's um, really private." My friend: "Ok...well when he gets off the phone, will you ask him if you can tell me who he is?" Girl: "Ok."

Guy gets off the phone, talks to girl, a couple of minutes pass.

My (unrelentant) friend: "Uh, so you haven't introduced me. Does that mean he won't let you tell me?" Girl: "Yeah. Sorry." And so my friend, the girl, and the mystery gentleman pass the rest of the show mutually pretending that the aforementioned interaction hadn't happened and that the whole thing isn't totally bizarro and strange."

so...who could this fun-loving, anonymity-requiring V.I.P. possibly have a been? take a guess, then find out for yourself. (NB: this probably/definitely won't be interesting to anyone but the bloggers out there. or anyone else for that matter. i've got an off sense of humor. so consider yourselves forewarned.)

who knows, i may even start answering my phone from now on! but probably not.

thanks to my recent john mayer call-tone fiasco i've finally caught up with the rest of the world with regard to ring tones and cell phone downloads and such. thus, today i debut my very first ring-tone: the law and order theme song.

i'm so excited. seriously. there aren't words.

friday. ahhh.

procrastination tool of the day: april fool's PSAs from the cast of 'the office' (thanks jada!)

dilemma of the day: it seems i get to go to the raconteurs show next week, which sold out in something like negative five seconds. the snag? i only have one ticket, so i'd have to go alone.

1. do i even care about the raconteurs? undecided.

2. do i care enough to fly solo in the hopes of running into miss modernage so i have someone to hang with? maybe.

3. is the fact that the opening band is made up of members under the age of 10 enough to make this all worth my while? probably.

decisions are the WORST! ...kidding.

thoughts on jamba juice.

i must be the only person on earth never to have had one of these before. how 1993 of me. all i can say is...um, yum?

mango- GOOOD. strawberries- GOOOD. splenda- GOOOD. low-fat dairy base- GOOOD.

can anyone figure out what i'm referencing? i'm sure boyfriend john can. it's from his favorite show.

the funny thing about my jamba juice is that it's a "medium" but it's the length of my forearm. and i'm told there's a bigger size! the world is a crazy place. and...i clearly need to find something better to do with my time. oh that's right- it's a phenomenally gorgeous day outside, so i'm going to go frolic. peace!

totally spring!

the weather has been so nice this week that all i want to do is run around in shorts and dance around in the sunshine. it's about time! here's some stuff for today and tomorrow. everybody go out in tank tops and get drunk on margaritas and perhaps we'll run into each other. cheers!

the gayest in gay gayness (or: the ark at bowery ballroom)

last night boyfriend john and i went to the bowery ballroom to hear Swedish glam-rock band the ark. woah! first of all, when they came out on stage the audience absolutely freaked out. like, lost their minds. i don't think i've ever heard that much shrieking at the bowery ballroom at any show ever. i think all their fans must be super fans.

i'd already heard the ark referred to as "the swedish scissor sisters" so i anticipated a certain amount of gayness, but these guys were absolutely, positively, Gaying It Up! totally campy, over-the-top, rock and roll gayitude. like queen on poppers. it felt a bit like watching hedwig and the angry inch. not to mention that every other word out of the singers mouth was "gay". in fact, i don't think i could imagine a gayer way to spend an evening. we kind of loved it.

unfortunately, princess superstar was on stage when we got there. we'd hoped to be spared the agony. god, she was awful.

Princess

all of my pictures of the ark came out blurry because a) the singer was leaping around at hyper-speed pretty much the whole time, and b) i'm a crap photographer. but here they are.

we ran into our friend alana in the crowd. she's into glam. she was stoked.

the end!

lazy thursday.

woah- the first song from the new walkman album? or bob dylan with a cheesy caribbean horn section?

you know why i think diamond nights are so hilarious? because they do stuff like this (click news). for the record, i was not one of the groupies or hangers-on, but that's only because we couldn't find parking. and also, drunk they may have been but i saw their "entourage" afterward and there wasn't a runny nose in the bunch. i'm just saying.

the slits reunite! but not here.

pete doherty: so ridiculous.

pitchfork honors kemado's new metal comp with a 7.9.

and on an unrelated note, i'm going to see the ark tonight at bowery. am i going to think they're kind of fun, or totally painful? anyone?

jack black dons tights, rocks world.

i can't wait to see this.
