ok, not really. but i am hereby declaring a moratorium on all things boring and elderly, including but not limited to: cooking elaborate meals for consumption with chardonnay in the bedroom, applicance-shopping at kmart, and claiming to be "waiting for the kirk cameron part to come on" as an excuse for lying on the couch all weekend long watching e!.
to do: reclaim youth, drink too much, revive ability to get into shows for free.
with that in mind, insound is having a big free show at volume this thursday, and it should be kickass. here's the info.

Insound is throwing a huge party on July 15 to help kick off the Siren Music Festival weekend in New York. The rsvp list is closed, but the show will still only be $2. Which is still maybe the best deal ever.

also, the secret machines show at sin-e has been moved to TOMORROW night.
the new york times had some worth-reading bits this weekend, most notably this story about indie metal labels with bands that got overlooked for ozzfest. also, i got totally sucked into this career-killing essay by a writer who worked as the doorgirl at hue for a year.
heard from the boys in the fever on saturday that their video won that fuse contest i mentioned last week. hooray!
i also just got an email from vice, advising me to check out chromeo's new video on their site. they also mentioned that vietnam, whose ep is getting released on vice recordings, will be playing a record release party show at the vice store, tomorrow night at 7pm. in related news, i got my hands on an advance copy of the vice book of do's and dont's and it is soooo worth the money. or, it would be had i spent any money on it. keep an eye out.
i don't know how i feel about michael moore wanting a pile of money to put out the soundtrack to fahrenheit 911. maybe he should quit while he's way ahead.
has everybody seen the episode of south park where the town goes 'queer eye' crazy? i finally saw it last night (totally awesome) and was struck by how much cartman's new gay hairstyle resembled....the john martin. check it.
don't be mad, john. it was too good to pass up.
Sara, get weird.
JohnMartin, get weirder.
Ha, that was great.
