so i went to see this band human television at pianos last night, but i of course had the time wrong and only got to hear two of their songs. that said, you can usually get a decent sense of a band after hearing them play a couple of songs live, and i wasn't totally turned off. four clean-cut boys who you can tell would give their left ball to sound like pavement, but aren't quite there. they weren't bad though, and they had a decent turnout.
today i clicked on a link to the website for another band i haven't heard, the king of france, and i was pleasantly surprised! i'm listening to their song 'just a body' right now and i think i love it. cute, goofy nerd-pop that kind of makes me feel like i'm at a luau. and apparently edward norton likes them too. if that's not a reason to like a band, i don't know what is.
the new york times keeps surprising me. yesterday they ran a random story about how hip karaoke nights are sprouting up all over the city (as if we didn't know that already), and today they have this random interview with ali g.
