it's been AGES since i went out to a show. or at least it feels that way. note to self: re-think priorities. paying the rent is so not more important than having fun.
gawker made a lot of us new york magazine employees laugh today with this posting:
'New York' Mag: Adam Moss Patches Leaky Ship
We've been wanting to do a story about how exhausted all the editors at New York mag are, about how editor Adam Moss is working them all into the ground in preparation for the upcoming relaunch of the mag, that sorta thing. But, get this -- no one wants to talk! And then we realized, hey, that's a great story! How did Adam Moss take the world's most gossip-loving staff and bludgeon them into submission? This is perhaps the largest collective of loose-tongued gossip-hounds in Manhattan -- who are now all, almost without exception, either too tired or too scared to even send catty emails from their Hotmail accounts. Is that what they teach you at the New York Times? Adam should so totally teach a Learning Annex class about this.
this so sums up the last six months in the life of new york magazine. too funny.
politics time! beantown correspondent kellie sent me this picture of andre 3000 and hillary clinton at the democratic national convention.
i'm glad she identified it as such, because otherwise i would have thought andre was a wealthy plantation owner from some caribbean island or something. i love how hillary's looking at him all intently as if she hangs with natty hip hoppers that look like funky grandpas all the time. ain't no thing!
umm ok. apparently ambulance ltd. is going to be on the letterman show tonight with natalie portman, so tune in. and i just got an invite to another kerry benefit party, this one starring yo la tengo, rachel dratch and a bunch of others. it's good to see people putting time and energy into something other than their latest image concept.
oh, and tomorrow night is this benefit at sin-e. i dig sin-e.
